An all day visit with Cheyenne and Arapaho's proved beneficial to members of the Oklahoma State Department of Education. Representatives from the C & A Department of Education offered a variety of cultural experiences that day as well as information and discussion regarding the state of education for Cheyenne and Arapaho children.
The Redlands Community College in El Reno recently hosted a special event sponsored by the Smithsonian Institution. Cheyenne and Arapaho cultural representatives were on hand to demonstrate traditional music, dance and artwork. Students and residents from the region were treated to detailed explanations and the stories surrounding the various Cheyenne and Arapaho arts.
Cheyenne and Arapaho TV visited the 2013 "Honoring the Beat of Life" health fair held at Midwest City's Reed Conference Center on November 9. The American Heart Association brought together many vendors to inform and educate the public about heart disease. Che Cheyenne and Arapaho Diabetes Wellness program was also represented and provided a cooking demonstration with recipes provided by the AHA.
Join a record number of attendees when our Tribe's Elders convened in Canton, Oklahoma for the special Halloween edition of Elder's Day Out. Folks came from all over Cheyenne and Arapaho country to share fellowship, food and to be entertained. The R.E.Sp.E.C.T. program pulled out all stops as elders were treated to an Elvis impersonator, an illusionist, wild animals and much more.
The Oklahoma State Capitol steps created the backdrop for a rally which highlighted the concerns of the group, Idle No More. Passionate natives gathered to express their concerns about domestic violence and native family rights.
Cheyenne and Arapaho TV traveled to Tulsa,OK in mid-October for the National Congress of American Indians' 70th annual conference. Tribal leaders from all over the country gathered to share ideas and work together to provide solutions to issues facing indigenous people today.
