FRYBREAD CONTEST
A frybread contest helped kick off the 83rd annual Indian Expo in Anadarko, Oklahoma in mid-July. The contest drew four contestants, though it's been much larger in years past. The frybread was judged on color, smell, texture, and of course taste. All four contestants received a prize, and the top three won trophies.

ELDER'S DAY OUT
Sports was the theme for this day's special gathering of Tribal Elders. Games, crafts, language lessons and exercises kept everyone engaged and looking forward to next month's Elder's Day Out.

WASHITA TEACHERS CONFERENCE
The Washita Battlefield National Historic Site was the location of this beneficial orientation. Representatives from the C & A Dept. of Education offered an all day cultural experience and orientation for teachers who sought to learn more about the Cheyenne and Arapaho Tribes.

DIABETES CAMP
The Cheyenne and Arapaho Tribes sponsored a three-day Diabetes Wellness Camp for youth ages 8-13 in July. The camp, held at Roman Nose State Park, placed an emphasis on nutrition and physical activity. Nearly 60 Native students spent the days learning Cheyenne and Arapaho languages and participating in activities like drum groups, basket weaving, and swimming. Phillip Whiteman Jr., a nationally-known horse trainer and storyteller, also presented his unique style of horsemanship to the kids.

INDIAN NATIONS POW WOW
Hundreds of Cheyenne Arapaho people convened on the Concho Powwow Grounds to celebrate this annual event. Episode highlights one evening during the powwow and captures the energy, excitement and pride of being Cheyenne Arapaho. Footage includes dance competitions and exhibitions.

Young tribal children paid rapt attention as sports pro's coached them on life lessons and physical conditioning. R.E.Sp.E.C.T co-sponsored a sports camp in El Reno, OK. R.E.Sp.E.C.T stands for Recreation, Exercise & Sports for Elders and Children of our Tribes.

JIM THORPE GAMES
The 2013 Jim Thorpe Games featured hundreds of Native athletes competing in different events like basketball, football, track and field, golf, stickball, and softball. Cheyenne and Arapaho TV was there for the All-star football game and special guest Wiillam Thorpe.

JIM THORPE GAMES OPENING CERMONIES
June 9 was a huge event for OKC's Remington Park. Hundreds of young Native athletes from around the country gathered to kick off the 2013 Jim Thorpe Games. Athletes paraded into the track carrying the flags of their respective nations, and guest speakers encouraged the athlets and spectators alike to honor Jim Thorpe and embrace the spirit of competition.
